Packaging, Food & Beverage

Caps, thin wall containers, filling and packing lines

In fast moving consumer goods seconds and grams cost money. We design and build cap and thin wall container moulds and the filling, packing and handling lines around the cycle time you target.

(01) Our work

What we do for packaging, food and beverage.

The packaging part and the line that fills, closes and packs it are two halves of one system. Designing them together raises both speed and yield.

  1. 01

    Caps and closure systems

Moulds for screw, snap and tamper evident caps. Sealing and opening force are balanced at the design stage.

  2. 02

    Thin wall containers

High speed, multi-cavity moulds. Wall thickness and fill analysis bring the cycle time down.

  3. 03

    Filling, packing and handling lines

Machines specific to your product and speed. Handling, orienting, counting and packing steps come together in one line.

  4. 04

    Vision inspection

Cap, label and fill level checks. A faulty product is taken off the line automatically.

(02) Services

The services behind it.

The services used together most often in this industry. Each can also be taken on its own.

(03) Focus

What we focus on in this industry.

How the principles that hold on every project apply in this industry.

01

Cycle time

The line speed target is the first input to the design. Buffers and feeding are built around it.

02

Hygienic design

Surfaces that are easy to clean, details that leave no residue and suitable material selection.

03

Flexible formats

Fast changeover for different sizes and products is planned into the design.

(04) Questions

Frequently asked questions.

The questions we hear most in this industry, with short answers.

01

How is cycle time reduced on thin wall container moulds?

Cavity balance in the multi-cavity mould is built by analysing wall thickness, filling and cooling design. The cycle time is largely decided by the cooling design.

02

Is a filling and packing line designed around the speed target?

Yes. The target line speed is the first input to the design. Handling, orienting, counting and packing steps and the buffers between them are built around that speed and verified with FAT.

03

How are sealing and opening force balanced on a cap?

The balance is analysed at the design stage and measured on real parts in the mould trials. We take a different approach for screw, snap and tamper evident closures.

04

Is fast changeover between product sizes possible?

Changeover is planned at the start of the design. Adjustable parts and product recipes selected on the HMI let different sizes run on the same line.
