Assembly and test fixtures

On a production line every second costs money. We design, build and commission assembly fixtures, test and gauging fixtures and the related automation around the cycle time of your line.

(01) Our work

What we do for automotive.

However good a supplier part is, the fixture that holds it, measures it and passes it on decides the speed of the line. We design those fixtures together with the part.

  1. 01

    Assembly fixtures

Locating and clamping systems that hold the part in the right position, every time. Designed to take operator error out of the process.

  2. 02

    Test and gauging fixtures

Purpose built fixtures for functional test, measurement and visual inspection. Critical dimensions are verified on the CMM.

  3. 03

    Plastic injection moulds

Multi-cavity and hot runner moulds for supplier plastic parts. T0 and T1 trials are delivered with measurement reports.

  4. 04

    Automation cells

Pick and place, handling, assembly and vision inspection cells, delivered together with the PLC and HMI software.

(02) Services

The services behind it.

The services used together most often in this industry. Each can also be taken on its own.

(03) Focus

What we focus on in this industry.

How the principles that hold on every project apply in this industry.

01

Repeatability

The same part sits in the same position every time. Locating points and tolerances are defined on day one of the design.

02

Cycle time

Fixtures and automation are designed against the takt time of the line. Every unnecessary motion is designed out.

03

Documented validation

Critical dimensions are measured and reported. The team taking over the line knows what they received and why.

(04) Questions

Frequently asked questions.

The questions we hear most in this industry, with short answers.

01

What is an assembly fixture and what is it for?

An assembly fixture is a locating and clamping device that holds the part in the right position, every time, during assembly. It reduces operator error and assembly time and makes sure every part is assembled the same way.

02

What is the difference between a test fixture and a gauging fixture?

A test fixture verifies the function of the part, for example sealing, mechanical movement or electrical continuity. A gauging fixture checks dimensions and geometry. Both are designed specifically for the product.

03

What information do you need to design a fixture?

A 3D model or drawing of the part, critical dimensions and tolerances, the target cycle time, the annual volume and the layout of the line is a good start. We complete whatever is missing together in the first conversation.

04

Can I get the part, the mould and the fixture from the same team?

Yes. One team designs the part, its injection mould and the assembly and test fixtures together, so the part tolerances and the locating points of the fixture agree from the start.
